I have been running my dressmaking business, from home, since 1991.
My love for sewing began when I was just 5 years old. My Gran would let me use her old treddle sewing machine. For my 14th birthday my Mum and Dad bought me my first sewing machine. From then on I made my own clothes and craft items for friends and family, slowly building Rowancrafts into what it is today.
I often get asked what Rowancrafts means? It's a tribute to my Granda, who was a Pipe Major in the Queens own Highlanders. When he played for my Gran, their favourite pipe tune was The Rowan Tree. So with my love of sewing crafts, and my grandparents, Rowancrafts was born.
I regularly attend sewing courses to learn new techniques and hone my skills. Being able to adapt commercial patterns, futher advancing the uniqueness by selecting the bodice of one pattern and the skirt of another to CREATE a dress unique to your style picking and choosing mix them up to get the style and design my client wants.
